The first bread I’ve made in a while that hasn’t been this delicious no-knead bread. Because sometimes I can’t wait overnight for bread. And because kneading is the best part anyway.
From this Betty Crocker recipe for French bread. I made it with not quite as much yeast because I only had a little, and even though bread-making seems like an exact science, it’s actually kind of hard to screw up, and I prefer to think of it as MAGIC.

My first ever brownies from scratch.

From this recipe (but as regular brownies, not brownie bites).

They are better than Duncan Hines. I don’t know how I feel about that.

Snickerdoodles! Betty Crocker recipe, all butter, no shortening.
Um, it says “servings 4.” I’m going to assume that means the recipe serves 4, and now I’m going to go eat a fourth of six dozen cookies.

It was reading this book that I realized that granada meant pomegranate and grenade. But it took me some time before I realized they weren’t throwing pomegranates. It wasn’t impossible.

Homemade coasters! With Ball jar lids and ticking. It had been a long time since I’d broken out the hot glue gun. It was lots of fun.

Somewhere in my youth (or childhood) I must have done something good.

Awesome thing. Folding tortellini may be my new favorite thing.

Why does my sourdough starter look nothing like this??
There have been no bubbles since about day two. These very helpful day-by-day instructions tell you not to despair, but I am despairing.

Carrot cake (without horrible raisins or anything) and cream cheese frosting. This recipe.
Don’t grate all the carrots at the end like I did: you’ll be impatient and your arm will get tired.

Blueberry pie and vanilla ice cream for breakfast!

Thanks to this pie crust recipe:

makes one crust

1 1/4 c flour (140 grams)

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 c butter, diced and chilled (115 grams)

1/4 c ice water (4 tbsp)

Combine flour and salt. Cut in butter with a fork (not your hands, it should stay as cold as possible) until you get coarse crumbs. Stir in water slowly. Collect into a ball, flatten into a disk, and chill in the fridge. Roll out into one 9-inch crust.
